A Week Behind

I had a pretty busy weekend, last weekend. Yes, I'm a week behind in my blogging. What can I say? I'm lazy :P

On Satuday 23rd I went to see A Royal Affair with my friend Merissa. The film is about the Danish royal family in the 18th Century. I love historical movies, and Merissa and me always go to see them together. The cinema was packed with what Merissa calls the 'Blue Rinse Brigade', all the old ladies going to see the film. Me and Merissa were the youngest there :P
The film was great! Costumes and settings were lovely. I would totally go and watch it again.

I wore:
Sisters of Mercy Shirt: Ebay
Skirt: Big W
Tights: Kmart
Winklepickers: Demonia (the heel fell off, again! I might write and angry letter to demonia)
Cotton biker jacket: Ebay (studded by myself!)

Later that night I went to a 'reunion' type of night that was for all the older alternative types to get together. That didn't stop me going! I was a bit over-dressed though, but I guess it's better to be over-dressed intead of under-dressed.
A irish guy complemented me on my hawk. He then asked me what type of music I'd like to have played, I quickly searched my brain for a really obsure goth band :P
"definatly Danse Society" I said, sipping my lemonade.

Check out my cute bat hairclip. I got it from etsy!

Please excuse creepy glowing eyes.

Specimen shirt: From their gig I saw in London 2010
Corset: ebay
Epic belt: ebay
Skirt: Yours Clothing
Winklepickers: Demonia

The next day I walked to a retro/vintage market that was being held in the next suburb. I underestimated how long it would take to walk there, so it took an hour both ways. Well, at least I like walking! :P
I bought two records, Bowie and Adam Ant. I'm trying to start to collect records, I've always loved records but I've never been in the position to buy any. Sadly all of my favourite bands are really hard to find, I'm not going to find a Red Lorry Yellow Lorry album easily!! I think that's where the internet comes in. If you have old goth records you don't want, give me a yell. I'll buy some! :)

On Sunday evening I headed off to The Loft. It was their 2nd birthday celebration, sadly I didn't get to DJ :(
I left my hawk up from the night before, too much effort to wash it out and put it back up again.

I wore a super cute dress that I got at City Chic on sale. The dress is really ugly and square on the hanger, but it looks curvy and brilliant when I wear it.
I had to wear my other demonia winklepickers because my favourite ones broke again :(

Again, sorry for any spelling mistakes. Spell check isn't working again, damn Blogger.

Sad news, I won't be able to DJ for a while. The Loft isn't running weekly, and The Crypt has to find a new venue. I'm really sad, as I love to play music and make people dance.

Liebster Award

I got tagged for the Liebster Award by V. I really enjoy doing these things, but I can never think of who to tag!

The rules:
  • Each person must post 11 things about themselves
  • Answer the question the tagger has set for you
  • Ceate 11 questions for the people you've tagged to answer
  • Choose 11 people and link them in your post
  • Go to their page and tell them
  • No tag backs (eh, this is inevitable)

11 things about me:
  1. I can crochet (granny blankets), knit (only scarves) and cross-stitch.
  2. I used to grow my nails into long pointy talons. I stopped after getting creepy nail fetish people contact me. I still grow my nails pointy, but not as long.
  3. I don't drink, do drugs, or smoke (but you already knew that). I never have, and I never will. This isn't due to any reason apart from my own choice (ever since I was a kid)
  4. I don't talk to my mother. I haven't seen her in around four years.
  5. I've never been on a date before. I'm the virgin amongst my group of friends, and I've never been kissed *woe* :P
  6. I enjoy Gilbert and Sullivan, my favourite operetta is Pirates of Penzance.
  7. Back in primary school I used to hate reading because it was too 'popular'. I love reading now. I also find it funny that I was against anything popular or normal even when I was a kid.
  8. I really enjoy angry girl 90s punk. Bikini Kill etc. I would totally be a punk if I didn't dislike colour so much.
  9. I didn't know what I wanted to do as my career in high school. I decided on library studies because it seemed to fit me (plus there are no good jobs in art). I was the first person on my dads side of the family to finish TAFE and get a diploma. I paid my own way through college.
  10. I haven't got my drivers licence yet. Public transport is alway close to where I am.
  11. Well, I haven't told anyone this yet. So why not tell the world? I've been recently diagnosed with depression, I'm a bit scared about this.

Questions I was asked:
  1. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Probaly America. I've already been to the UK, I would love to visit all my blogger friends in America. I'd also like to go to Europe, but I'm worried about the language barrier (hopefully next year)
  2. What's your favourite drink, alcoholic or not?
I don't drink alcohol, and never will. My favourite drink is a chocolate milkshake. Yum
  3. Do you have any pets?
No, I live by myself in a small apartment. I don't think I'm ready to look after a pet. My last pet was my childhood dog, who died when she was 18. I really miss her, I didn't cry when she died.
  4. Favourite colour?
Black. I just love it, I was never a fan of any specific colour when I was a kid.
  5. Favourite Gothy movie?
Gypsy 83. I will have to review this movie for my blog, because it's pretty good/hilarious
  6. Favourite flower?
    Lavender. They also smell pretty!
  7. What is your personal/favourite style e.g. Rockabilly, cyper, Romantic etc?
Definatly Traditional Goth, nothing else seems to fit me. I love the music, the fashion, plus no one else is trad goth in Perth.
  8. Do you collect anything?
No, I guess I kinda collect ironic goth things. Like skulls and bats, but that's just part of who I am.
  9. Do you like sports?
No, the only sport I like watching is roller derby. Otherwise, I can't stand sports.
  10. Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
Oh, yes. I have a total of 33 piercings. I have 6 tattoos, and I will be getting more :)
  11. What is your current hair colour?
Green. I don't think I'll be changing from green. I think it's the best for my complexion, plus no one has green hair! Everyone usualy goes for red, purple, blue, pink. I think if I went any other colour it would be blue. I'll stick with green. I also like black, but it really makes me look sickly.

Questions to answer:
  1. Have you ever been star stuck by a celebrity?
  2. What is your favourite hairstyle?
  3. Which time period is your favourite?
  4. Graveyards. Fun or not?
  5. Who is your role model and why?
  6. If you could meet anybody from history, who would it be?
  7. Do you classify yourself as a feminist?
  8. What is your favourite feature about yourself?
  9. What is your most embarrassing moment?
  10. What icecream flavour is your favourite?
  11. What is your favourite piece of clothing?
  12. What is your religion, or what do you believe in. I know this is 12 questions, but I'm interesting in knowning the answer. If you don't want to tell me, that's totally fine. I'm an athiest, if you'd like to know. I'm also a skeptic.

People tagged:
I didn't tag 11 people, but meh. Also, sorry about spelling mistakes, the spell check isin't working :(
If you'd like to know more about me, don't hesitate to send me an email :)

Perth Alternative Markets

Last Sunday my friend, Merissa, ran the first Perth Alternative Markets. I was there to help. She did such a great job, and hopefully she'll continue to run the market every month or so. My other friends had stalls. Haze and her girlfriend Kylie were selling pillows that Haze makes. My other two friends were selling old clothes. I was suppose to DJ along with Merissa, but the venue is having trouble with licencing. We just played our cds through their music system instead.

There is Haze and Kylie!

I made/sold brownies. I got rid of some of my clothes too :)

I'm looking fab wearing:

Perth Megamouth

Take a look at this awesome video about moving the Perth Megamouth. I always loved visiting the Megamouth when I was a kid, and I was sad to see it had moved (I didn't know where).
But now it's in Fremantle! Sadly the Fremantle Maritime Museum cost money to get into :( it's only $10 but it's still strange having to pay to get into a museum (I usually donate a few dollars when I go inside a museum anyway)

There used to be a HUGE whale skeleton in the old Perth Museum, but it's been put into storage until they can build another building. I can't wait to see the whale skeleton again, it was my favourite when I was a kid.

Rocky Horror Karaoke @ Devilles

Every Thursday night Devilles has karaoke night! This time was a special Rocky Horror karaoke that my friend ran (he dressed at Frank). Devilles is a bar/restaurant/club, it's probably the most nicely decorated place in Perth. Vintage 'hell' theme :P
I'm terrible at singing, but I gave it a shot anyway. I sang China Girl by David Bowie. The girl before me was even worse, she was drunk and falling about on stage. Then she fell down the stairs and lay there crying. I think they had to get an ambulance in. I don't understand why people drink.

I forgot to take a photo of my outfit AGAIN!
Luckily you can see what I'm wearing here.

Lace shirt: From ex-friend
Lace overtop: New Look
Skirt: Big W
Tights: We Love Colors
Winklepickers: Underground Shoes

Tattoo and Hocico

I got a new tattoo last Wednesday at Foothills Tattoo in Byford.

Mmm. Fresh. The skeleton sits right under my "Elitist" tattoo. My "Elitist" tattoo is a joke between my friends, about how I do really stereotypical Goth stuff.

On Thursday night I went to see Hocico. My friend (organiser of The Crypt) brought them over with her own money. The two boys in the band were really nice, they enjoyed Perth a lot. The gig was really great! I'm not a huge fan of their music, but they did a good job and really got everyone dancing. One thing I love about Goth concerts is that people give you enough room to dance, it's great!
I forgot to take a photo of my outfit, but here is my head :)

Some Clothing From This Week

Here are a few outfits that I wore this week:
Work clothes from earlier this week.

Outfit for a new music night on Friday night.

Last night, ready to go out to a friends party. I've finished studding my jacket. I just need to put the patches on.

Featuring a new skirt from Big W. It cost $12, it's just a plain knit skirt. It will go well with everything I own, I love skirts like this.

Look at my butt! Hehe. I love my Bauhaus patch, I just need to sew it on.

I really enjoyed going to my friends party last night. I'm very socially awkward at house parties. So many people that I don't know. My plan of attack is to usually stand around and look fabulous, and hope that I find someone that I know. It's a bit tough, because I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. I don't have things like that to act as a social lubricant.
Two bands played, The YesMen (lead by my friend, and host of the party) and Dead X Doll. Dead X Doll were brilliant! Their music was cross between post-punk and angry girl 90s music. I was thinking "Man, they should totally let me sing in their band. They're awesome"
Haha :P

When You Inspire Someone...

I recently got this amazing note someone wrote to me on my DeviantART account (written in relation to my "How To Backcomb Your Hair" youtube video):

Hey. I don't know if you remember me - I'm the girl who back-combed her bright blue hair into epic proportions. I know you didn't reply to my last message, so I hope it wasn't because you didn't want to talk to me for some reason.
Anyway, I just got a hair crimper and finally got the hair thing down (and do it pretty much every day now actually since the crimping means I don't even need hairspray or much backcombing) and I was thinking, your video changed my life in such a real way.
Because of your video I got my back-combing to work, and posted a photograph of it on Facebook, where my favorite writer (a girl from Seattle) commented on it. Through this we got talking and discovered we had the same interest in the subculture, same interests outside of it, same stances on everything we came across, no matter how obscure. The hair also revealed that my then ex felt that the way I was acting was dumb - as a strong lover of HIM and Evanescence etc he thought that the things I liked were terrible and out of date. Through this I discovered a different side of him, and our relationship ended. I don't think it was the differing taste in music that did it of course, but it's what made me notice elements of his personality and how he acted around other people when I wasn't there. (Although he thought my deathhawk was ugly, so he had no taste anyway, heh.)
Not long after, I realized that I'd never felt anything a shadow of how I felt about that writer. She thought I was pretty neat too. We got together in the July. I spent the Christmas with her, and this summer we're spending 10 weeks together. I'll see the 4th of July fireworks by Lake Union, and a thousand other things. She's told me that if things stay this way when I graduate from my university course she thinks it'd be pretty nice if we got married. We'd be 25 and 26 then. I hope we get there. I kinda feel like we will.
And I was thinking when I was doing my hair - if you had never made that video would this ever have happened? And I thought maybe you'd find this interesting.

It's such an honour for me to get this type of letter. I never knew that I could affect someone this way. I'm only a fat Goth from a small town. Things like this give me strength.

Today my male friend/co-worker told me this story:

Hey last night there was this gross drunk guy on the train home. staggering about, drinking goon out of a bag. Seemed to have forgotten how to use his phone, kept looking at it, holding it up to his ear, making a confused face, looking at it again, holding it back to his ear.
Eventually he started going to this other guy “I can see heaps of faggots! Look at all the faggots! 1, 2, 4, 5…”
There was only like 5 of us on the carriage.
Anyway, I saw him before I got on the train so I went up the opposite end of the carriage, but as I was getting off he looked at me, swaying and staggering around, so I winked and made a ‘kissy-kissy’ face as I stepped off the train.
So funny.
