Dr Marten 1460 Nappa Boots Review

My Justin Roper cowboy boots finally kicked the bucket, you can see my finger poking through. Many tears were shed for these comfy boots. I needed new shoes in a hurry, so I decided to try Dr Martens again.
I had previously worn Dr Martens throughout my late high school and college years, and I remember them being comfy although lacking in the support category.

I decided on Dr Marten 1460 Nappa leather boots. Nappa leather is softer, and more pliable straight from the box. I chose these over normal Dr Marten boots because I didn't want the painful breaking in period, that can sometimes take months. I'm getting old, and I can't be bothered with uncomfortable boots any more.

I purchased these from Wellington St Army Surplus, in Perth, for around $190 AUD. I dislike Wellington St Army Surplus, the employees are ALWAYS rude. Every single time I go in there.
The only reason I purchased at that store is that I didn't know my boot size, and I wanted to try them on. In the end, the in-store boots were about the same price as what I'd be paying on Ebay.

I found out that I'm a EU 43. I have big man feet, and I can rarely buy pretty girl shoes.

I love the Dr Marten tissue paper inside.

Straight out of the box, you can see how flexible the Nappa leather is.

Before a polish.

Here they are polished up. I'd say that Nappa leather doesn't seem to have a mirror shine, unlike other Dr Marten boots I have had. Perhaps with regular polishing the shine will appear.

Another reason to dislike Wellington St Army Surplus, I asked the employee if I should polish Nappa leather like normal, and he replied "I guess?" in a really bored tone.

I made the mistake of thinking I'd be able to wear these straight away without blisters, I WAS WRONG! I got some painful blisters on the heels of my feet.
There was a bit of breaking in that I needed to do, the boots were a bit tight in areas.
I purchased these around December, and they didn't take as long as normal boots to break in.

Overall, I really like the Nappa leather version of Dr Martens. I'll be wearing these regularly until I can purchase another pair of Justin Roper boots.

UPDATE 12/06/16: This week I found a spilt in my sole. This is really disappointing, as the shoes are still new. I haven't been doing anything strenuous in these, just the normal walking around. Dr Marten has really made me disappointed in their shoe quality.
I asked my Dad to glue them back together, so I'll see how that goes.

Home Body

Some of you may be wondering why I haven't posted anything since Halloween last October. Quick explanation is I'm constantly depressed, and everything is an effort. You can skip this mopey post if you like.

Long explanation is that last year I was depressed for most of the year. A lot of times I was suicidal. I currently don't have any real life friends, it's been more than a year that someone has contacted me and asked me to go somewhere with them. I have always been the person who organises any outings, so I decided to see how long it took for my friends to organise to see me. The answer is never.
I spent my birthday alone last year.
I have a few bad times where I was afraid I might hurt myself, but there was no one I could talk to or help me. I have been in therapy for a few years, along with medication, but nothing seems to help. I think I'm too broken to fix, and as a result no one wants to be around me.

I do have a lot of friends online, but I know that everyone has their own life and I don't enjoy talking about my problems which can make other people sad.

The bad thing about not going out, is that I don't have any nice outfit posts to show you guys. So I'm sorry about that.

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween to all my bloggers, I hope you have a nice time. Yesterday was Halloween for us in Australia, I had a DJ set at Incursion but I didn't dress up this year. Above is what my makeup looked like, my skeleton is also in the photo :)

The cheapest pair of boots

Okay, guess how much these cost me...

ONLY $1!!! I'm not kidding you.

I was browsing around eBay and I saw these pair of Underground creeper boots being auctioned starting at $1. I put in my bid, and strangely enough no one else bid on top of me. I won them for $1, with $14 postage.

I know that Underground boots generally cost at least $150 AUD, more like $200 due to the weak Australian dollar at the moment. I felt really sorry for the seller, I think he was expecting more money. He should have put a minimum bidding amount. When the boots arrived, I saw that he paid $34 dollars for shipping, so I felt even more sorry for him. Poor bloke.

Hey, at least I got nice shoes.

Halloween Package from Coffin Kitsch!

I was lamenting the fact that Perth has very little Halloween items this year on Instagram, Meagan from Coffin Kitsch noticed, and offered to send me a little package which was very kind of her.
America, and even the UK, are so lucky to have lots of usable Halloween items. We don't get anything nice over here, and a lot is gaudy and ugly.

Wrapped up in a cute ribbon.

This is an awesome coffin card!

Cute reusable shopping bag. I love the print!

Meagan sent me so much stuff!!
There are two tea towels, a tablecloth, bat and spider glitter garlands, and three types of food! I really enjoyed the Brach's brand of candy corn, and it disappeared quickly :) I've had generic brand before, which I didn't enjoy.
The tea towels are currently hanging on my oven, waiting to dry some dishes.

Thank you so much Meagan! You are so good to me. Go and follow her blog over at Coffin Kitsch.

Halloween Tag!

Hey, long time, not talk. Procrastination is my name, not doing stuff is my game. Anyway, the lovely Meagan, from Coffin Kitsch, tagged me in a Halloween Tag. I need to answer 13 questions (spooky number) and tag 5 other bloggers.

So here we go!

1. Favourite Halloween song?
I Put a Spell on You, by Screamin' Jay Hawkins

2. Witch or Vampire?
Oh man, I like both. I guess, technically, witches have more power than vampires. But vampires have always been my favourite.

3. Favourite thing about Halloween?
Finding items to use all year. Although it's difficult to find items in Perth, I love finding spooky candles, and other decorations to display around my apartment all year.

4. Halloween Party of Scary movie marathon?
Movie marathon, by myself with a pack of chips. I actually don't think I've ever been to a Halloween party, apart from club nights.

5. Skeletons or Zombies?
Another hard question. I love skeletons, but I'll have to choose zombies. I've toned down a bit, but I'm a huge fan of zombie films. I've seem so many of those gory 70's zombie films, I think my mind has been desensitised.

6. Favourite Halloween candy?
Cadbury Screme Eggs! I love the mini ones the best!

7. Favourite Halloween movie?
Halloween, the first ever "horror" film I ever watched. I used to watch it a lot.

8. Favourite Halloween costume?
I loved my spooky ghost costume, from a few years ago.

9. Favourite Halloween store?
Sadly, we don't have any Halloween stores in Perth. This year's shops are terrible, there is really nothing on offer. I guess the closest we have is Lombards, which is a party supply store. The Halloween stuff is usually displayed alongside the Melbourne Cup items :(

10. Jack-o-lanterns, yes or no?
Eeeh, I mean, I don't hate jack-o-lanterns. I guess they're okay?

11. Bats or Black Cats?
Bats! They's so cute.

12. Is Halloween your favourite holiday?
Yes! Even though it's not popular in Australia, I love the chance to find some new spooky things to buy. Although, Christmas comes at a close second, due to the family and yummy food.

13. Pumpkin spice latte or hot chocolate?
Hot chocolate! I don't drink coffee, and hot chocolate is probably what I buy if I want a hot drink.

Melbourne Adventure! Day Four

Once again the morning was nice and sunny, no rain at all. I had this day all to myself so I took the tram an hour south of Melbourne to the Ripponlea Estate, which is better know as Aunt Prudence's house on the tv show Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries.
There was a costume exhibition from the third season which I really wanted to see.
