Incursion: Fairy Tales

Incursion was on again, this time the theme was Fairy Tales. I have a nice ball dress in my wardrobe, but I decided to hire a costume from a costume store. They didn't have much in their collection, and I really disliked the quality. It's funny when my own 'costume' clothes are better quality than a professional costume hire place.

I settled on a blue dress and a white 'powder' wig. It was probably the laziest costume ever, I didn't have to do anything with my hair. I didn't have to put on much makeup. Easy peasy!

I like to think that I was dressed as an 'ugly step-sister' from Cinderella :P

I had a hoop skirt underneath! I was the only person in the whole club dressed in light clothing, hahaha! Silly goths.

Lana came from Sydney again to DJ at Incursion. It's always nice seeing her, she's a lovely girl. I wish I got to spend more time with her.

My makeup was very easy. I blacked out my eyes and had glitter lips. Glitter lips are very easy to achieve. Just put eyelash glue on your lips and attach glitter!

Here's my setlist for the night. I forgot what I played!

The Professor's Monthly Homework Assignment: Spring

This month Frannie at The Curious Professor Z asked us to write a little bit about Spring. Well, sadly, I can't because it's not Spring... It's Autumn. :)

Summer is finally over in Perth, but that doesn't mean it's any cooler! Usually it takes until the end of April for the weather to cool down. I'm looking forward to cold nights, so I can light candles and get snuggled in a jumper and blanket. I have recently brought a whole bunch of jumpers ready for winter.

Stud jumper from City Chic.
Rib cage jumper from Kill Star Clothing. It's really warm!

Bat jumper from Sourpuss

Our native trees don't change colour and shed like other trees do. Luckily, there are oak trees in the park next to my apartments so I get to see all of the pretty colours. I love kicking through the piles of orange leaves.
When the weather gets cooler I'm planning on doing some sewing projects. I would like to make some tote bags and decorate them.

I hope that you're enjoying the changing weather in your part of the planet :)

Mail Order Boyfriend

What came in the mail today?

Oooh!

If my neighbours looked in they would have thought I was a serial killer!

Including spare teeth!

Meet Frederick Bonesworthington. A lifesize skeleton has been on my wishlist for many years. I used some of my money from Fringe World to finally buy one!

Sharon Needles

A little while ago I saw Sharon Needles at the Perth gay club Connections. Photos taken by my friend Haze.
I didn't know what to expect, because I've never seen a drag show before. Sharon Needles was the winner of the fourth season of RuPaul's Drag Race (which I love!).

It was really horrible and hot where I was standing.

I didn't actually stay for all of Sharon's show. After her first song I felt really ill and I felt like I needed to sit down. There was no seating at the club (what the hell?!) so I actually bailed early and caught a taxi home.

Donnelly River

Working at Fringe World was a great experience. The company that runs it, Artrage, are very generous.
As a wind-down Artrage organised an all expenses paid weekend away to Donnelly River.
Donnelly is south of Perth, around three hours away. It's very close to Bridgetown, where I stayed on a farm with Merissa previously.
Around 35 people went, but only a few people that I have actually met before. Only two people who I worked with went.

The accomodation is around 30 houses. The area used to be used for logging.

There are no pets allowed, but that's understandable. All of the wildlife are so close. I also bought emu/kangaroo food at the general store so I could hand feed them.

Here is my Fringe co-worker Sophie looking at a lazy kangaroo from out kitchen window.

Nom nom nom. I fed Emus and Kangaroos. I saw a rabbit and a possum.
The animals are wild, but they get used to the tourists after a while. The emus were very gentle with taking food. Wild kangaroos can be dangerous, but these guys were very used to people. They wanted the food more than us patting them! :)

This is the swimming dam. Yes, I totally went for a swim! Although the bottom was slimy and I was scared of leeches.

The weekend was over too soon. I was a bit scared about socialising with all of the people I haven't met. It was a bit hard at night when everyone was drinking and hanging around. I felt like I didn't belong anywhere and I made a quiet escape. I know I shouldn't leave social gatherings early.

Wishing To Hide

There were many benefits to working at Fringe World. They invited all of the workers for a free dinner at Devilles Pad. Who can pass up a free dinner?
Thursday night at Devilles is karaoke night, and of course I sang Bowie. I did Let's Dance this time.
Initially I was a bit anxious to go. I don't enjoy being around people sometimes, even if I'm with friends. Lately I've been wanting to stay at home and hide away.

What's with this pose I'm pulling? I also have a new bag from Kreepsville.
Dress: City Chic
Belt: City Chic
Winklepickers: Pennangalan
Tights: We Love Colors
Bag: Kreepsville
