I've haven't been posting lately. I'm in a bit of a sad state. Two of my close friends have given up on me. I spend my day at work, then I got home and go to bed early because there is nothing else to do. It's really hard for me to make friends. I'm apparently too scary to approach, and I'm really shy and awkward to talk to people.
Work is really busy, we're doing annual renewals of journals. I still don't think I have to hang of it, and I don't want to bring down my team.
There are no more Goth clubs to go to on the weekend, because we can't find a venue. I haven't DJed in ages, because The Loft's venue, Geisha, has decided that Sunday night is for live music :(
I'm just trying to keep together.

Goth Tip #4
Take some time to look after your leather boots. Polishing them is easy and makes them waterproof.
I use Kiwi polish, a boot brush, an old shirt, and a pair of old pantyhose. I line up my boots and do them in turn. Here is how I do it:
I use Kiwi polish, a boot brush, an old shirt, and a pair of old pantyhose. I line up my boots and do them in turn. Here is how I do it:
- Make sure your boots are clean. No dirt or anything on the leather.
- Put on some good music, maybe Sisters of Mercy. This will stop boredom, and you'll start to think of how great your boots will look when dancing.
- Use an old shirt as your polish rag. Get a bit of polish and work it over the boot. Start at the toe and work around. The polish will look matte against the leather. Do a bit of rubbing in circular motions.
- Take a boot brush and buff off the polish.
- Next wet your cloth a bit so that it's damp but not dripping, take a bit of polish and rub on the boots again. This is the same as 'spit shining' boots, only you don't have to spit. Well, you can if you feel like it :) Make sure that your cloth stays damp and enough polish is being used. Use a circular motion when polishing.
- Buff the shoes again with a brush
- Take a pair of old pantyhose. Rub the pantyhose over the boots to buff them up, this takes off any excess polish and makes the shoes shine. I don't know why, but it really works! My shoes look so nice and shiney afterwards.
- You're DONE! Your boots should now look black and clean.

The Professor's Monthly Homework Assignment: Purses and Bags
Another month, another homework assignment from The Dancing Maenad. This months theme is purses and bags, but sadly this is going to be a VERY short post. You see, the thing is I don't suit purses. I never have. I'm not a girly girl, and anything small and cute really doesn't suit me. It feels funny and not right to have a little tiny handbag that dangles off my wrist. I've gone my whole life with backpacks and shoulder bags. Right now, I only use two bags.
I found this bag in a small asian fashion store for $10. I had been looking for an everyday bag to fit my day planner, books, wallet, etc. I sewed the Bauhaus patch and put studs around it. I painted the spiderweb, and also a bat on the inside flap. I would LOVE to have an Oxford type bag with lots of buckles, but they're expensive.
This is my going out bag. It's small, but fits my wallet, handfan and lipstick. I use it for when I'm going to a club or out to dinner. This bag is long enough to go across my body, which I like.
The best thing about being a DJ is that I can put my bag behind the DJ booth, so I don't have to carry it around all night :)

Perth Alternative Markets 2
Last Sunday I helped my friend run the second Perth Alternative Markets. We arrived early and I help set up the tables, as my friend can't do a lot of lifting at the moment. We also took turns DJing for the five hours that the markets ran for.
There were more stalls than the last time it ran, and I think everyone had a lot of fun. I bought a few things from other stalls, including a rosary and a vintage ferret stole.
This time I made a few things to sell. I hand painted some items with spooky designs :)

Spiderweb tealight holders
Bat and spiderweb vase.
Spiderweb plate. Someone bought this! :)
Spiderweb bowl. This got sold too, the girl I sold it to loved all my stuff :)
I had some handmade dolls too. I did everything, sewing the clothes and gluing the hair.
My famous Goth Brownies that everybody bought. I seriously only had five left by the end of the day. I make them with Cadbury chocolate inside, the white squares are white chocolate and the brown is caramello
Here's what I wore!
Sisters of Mercy shirt: Ebay
Skirt: Big W
Stripe leggings: Yours Clothing
Boots: Dr. Martens
Lots of stuff being sold by some of my friends.
So many things. Not to mention that our venue is really beautiful.
I hope that I get to help my friend and run another market with her. I had lots of fun.

I really enjoyed this article on Jezebel [link] about how everyone is a feminist if they believe women are people. And the people who don't are jerks.
