The first stop on Peter Murphy's 2013 Australian tour was Perth! How lucky were we?
Peter or Bauhaus have never been to Australia before. I hope he enjoyed staying in Perth, and it was a real honour to see him. He's such a big idol of mine.
I certainly enjoyed his show a lot. I arrived pretty early, like I usually do for shows. There wasn't really any line at all. I was one of the first people into the venue. I bought a Peter Murphy shirt with an octopus on it, and staked out the front of the stage.
Funnily enough, the same cute girl from Adam Ant was also at the Peter Murphy concert. I bet she's super annoyed with me now, because I always seem to get a souvenir from gigs. Sorry cute girl!!!
The Bakery is an okay venue. It's run by Artrage, who also run the Rooftop Movies. The venue is large, and the stage is set pretty low (compared to the Astor).
The crowd consisted of a lot of goths. I didn't really get a good view of how many people there were, because I was at the front.
The supporting band was Fear of Comedy, who are a Perth band. My friend is a guitarist in the band. I've seen them a few times. I enjoyed some of their first songs, but some of their music seems to be a bit screamy and metal which I'm not a fan of. The lead singer has a great voice though! I'm sure they were very happy to support Peter.
Right, onto the main act.
Peter Murphy came on stage and I was instantly smitten. He's still a very handsome man and has all of the moves. He played many of his solo songs, and a few Bauhaus. I would have loved a full Bauhaus set, but I enjoyed his show. Some Bauhaus songs off the top of my head were Stigmata Martyr, Kick In The Eye, She's In Parties. No 'Bela Lugosi's Dead', just a chorus of it.
He was full of energy, seeing him jumping around and dancing gave me an insight to how it would be at one of his original concerts. I wish I could have seen him in the Bauhaus days!
The concert was very good. The band were very dedicated (also handsome). It got really hot in the venue, and you could see shirts of the band getting slowly wet with sweat.
Peter Murphy was very audience interactive. He was touching people, he even covered my eyes. The best part was probably when he dragged a girl forward and sung into her ear.
I was so, so close to him it was crazy. The stage set up meant that when he came to stand at the front of the stage my head was literally in his crotch area. I had to turn my head so it wouldn't go into his wang area :P That being said, I got a really good view! Haha!! Seeing as he was sweaty, I also got sweated on a bit (I'm never going to shower again!!! Haha). He has lovely blue eyes, by the way.
Near to the end of the concert I took the courage and hugged his legs hard. I also had a cheeky grope of his bum ;)
I scored a guitar pick and set list.
If you have the chance to see Peter Murphy, either on his Australia tour or elsewhere, I highly recommend him. His voice is still brilliant and his performance was everything I wanted it to be.
To recap: Peter Murphy= very attractive and brilliant show
Now I need to tick off Siouxise Sioux and David Bowie *crosses fingers* (Note to Siouxsie and Bowie: you need to come to Perth so I can grope your bums)

American Mary @ Luna Cinemas
Last Thursday I was lucky enough to see a new horror film. American Mary was directed by two Canadian twin sisters Sylvia and Jen Soska (The Soska Sisters). They came to Australia to meet us and show us the film! I was so excited to meet them!
The movie was held at Luna Cinemas in Leederville. I attended the movie by myself, but was surprised to find my friends Holly and Nikki there.
American Mary follows Mary Mason (Katharine Isabelle from Ginger Snaps) as she struggles in her life. She's studying to be a surgeon at medical school, but she has money troubles. After losing another job, she tries to find a job as a go-go bar but instead is asked to use her surgery skills. Her skills drop her into the world of extreme body modification. A horrible situation sends her spiraling into madness, while her enjoyment for unnecessary surgery grows.
I think this film is the best I've seen all year. If you enjoy horror, I recommend this 100%. I wasn't grossed out at all during the film, and there were no "cat in a box" type scares. I love the use of real effects over CGI. A female driven movie is a wonderful thing, and the Soska sisters are young masters. I can't wait to see what they come up with next!
Everything about the film was beautiful, and it stuck around in my head for a while. Go and see this film if you can!!
They were so sweet and cute!!
Q&A session after the film. I asked about alternative endings for the film.
Such nice outfits!
I got this signed!!
Holly with the sisters
Nikki with the sisters
Me again, because I loved them so much. I wanted to take them home and be friends with them forever! Such lovely girls.

Spike
Wow, I had such a crazy spike in views yesterday! It's crazy, and I still can't believe Tess Munster actually likes my blog!
I've got a few posts planned:
- How to bleach your hair roots (including photos of me looking like a dork)
- Halloween Horror Movie month (October) I'll be watching and reviewing a bunch of horror movies for the whole month! Is anybody interesting in reading this? I love corny horror films
- A giveaway competition to my followers! You guys are great, so I thought I'd finally give something back to you. I'm collecting prizes now :) I have to think of some handmade stuff that I can give away.
- Pennangalan winklepicker review. I think you'll die when you see the shoes I just received, they're so shiney and pretty

Omg Tess Munster
Tess Munster just featured me on her facebook!!! I'm so happy, Tess means so much to me. She's a brilliant role model, we're the same size (although I'm really tall) and I love seeing her in different outfits. I think I'm going to burst with happiness!
I wish that I could fly over to the other side of Australia so I could meet her when she comes over.

Liebster Award
I got tagged for the Liebster Award by V. I really enjoy doing these things, but I can never think of who to tag!
The rules:
11 things about me:
Questions I was asked:
Questions to answer:
People tagged:
If you'd like to know more about me, don't hesitate to send me an email :)
The rules:
- Each person must post 11 things about themselves
- Answer the question the tagger has set for you
- Ceate 11 questions for the people you've tagged to answer
- Choose 11 people and link them in your post
- Go to their page and tell them
- No tag backs (eh, this is inevitable)
11 things about me:
- I can crochet (granny blankets), knit (only scarves) and cross-stitch.
- I used to grow my nails into long pointy talons. I stopped after getting creepy nail fetish people contact me. I still grow my nails pointy, but not as long.
- I don't drink, do drugs, or smoke (but you already knew that). I never have, and I never will. This isn't due to any reason apart from my own choice (ever since I was a kid)
- I don't talk to my mother. I haven't seen her in around four years.
- I've never been on a date before. I'm the virgin amongst my group of friends, and I've never been kissed *woe* :P
- I enjoy Gilbert and Sullivan, my favourite operetta is Pirates of Penzance.
- Back in primary school I used to hate reading because it was too 'popular'. I love reading now. I also find it funny that I was against anything popular or normal even when I was a kid.
- I really enjoy angry girl 90s punk. Bikini Kill etc. I would totally be a punk if I didn't dislike colour so much.
- I didn't know what I wanted to do as my career in high school. I decided on library studies because it seemed to fit me (plus there are no good jobs in art). I was the first person on my dads side of the family to finish TAFE and get a diploma. I paid my own way through college.
- I haven't got my drivers licence yet. Public transport is alway close to where I am.
- Well, I haven't told anyone this yet. So why not tell the world? I've been recently diagnosed with depression, I'm a bit scared about this.
Questions I was asked:
- If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Probaly America. I've already been to the UK, I would love to visit all my blogger friends in America. I'd also like to go to Europe, but I'm worried about the language barrier (hopefully next year) - What's your favourite drink, alcoholic or not?
I don't drink alcohol, and never will. My favourite drink is a chocolate milkshake. Yum - Do you have any pets?
No, I live by myself in a small apartment. I don't think I'm ready to look after a pet. My last pet was my childhood dog, who died when she was 18. I really miss her, I didn't cry when she died. - Favourite colour?
Black. I just love it, I was never a fan of any specific colour when I was a kid. - Favourite Gothy movie?
Gypsy 83. I will have to review this movie for my blog, because it's pretty good/hilarious - Favourite flower?
Lavender. They also smell pretty! - What is your personal/favourite style e.g. Rockabilly, cyper, Romantic etc?
Definatly Traditional Goth, nothing else seems to fit me. I love the music, the fashion, plus no one else is trad goth in Perth. - Do you collect anything?
No, I guess I kinda collect ironic goth things. Like skulls and bats, but that's just part of who I am. - Do you like sports?
No, the only sport I like watching is roller derby. Otherwise, I can't stand sports. - Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
Oh, yes. I have a total of 33 piercings. I have 6 tattoos, and I will be getting more :) - What is your current hair colour?
Green. I don't think I'll be changing from green. I think it's the best for my complexion, plus no one has green hair! Everyone usualy goes for red, purple, blue, pink. I think if I went any other colour it would be blue. I'll stick with green. I also like black, but it really makes me look sickly.
Questions to answer:
- Have you ever been star stuck by a celebrity?
- What is your favourite hairstyle?
- Which time period is your favourite?
- Graveyards. Fun or not?
- Who is your role model and why?
- If you could meet anybody from history, who would it be?
- Do you classify yourself as a feminist?
- What is your favourite feature about yourself?
- What is your most embarrassing moment?
- What icecream flavour is your favourite?
- What is your favourite piece of clothing?
- What is your religion, or what do you believe in. I know this is 12 questions, but I'm interesting in knowning the answer. If you don't want to tell me, that's totally fine. I'm an athiest, if you'd like to know. I'm also a skeptic.

Inspiration: Siouxsie Sioux
When babybats research Goth music, Siouxsie Sioux is right next to Bauhaus and The Cure. I remember when I knew nothing about Goth music, I searched Internet forums for an idea of what I should listen to (this was when the Internet didn't have awesome information like it does now). The first Siouxsie song I listened to was Christine. My favourite song is most likely Cities In Dust, which always gets me on the dance floor 'pulling the cobwebs' with my hands.
It's no secret that I love backcombing. I used to have hair down to my butt, until I cut it shoulder length because I wanted to start backcombing. I wanted to look like Siouxsie and Robert Smith. I succeeded well, and no other Goth in Perth backcombed their hair. I was the only one. Backcombed hair became my staple, and friends who I only knew at the club wondered what I looked like with 'normal' hair. They didn't recognise me straight away in my normal day outfits with flat hair.
I've perfected my backcombing. The hairspray I use is Schwarzkopf Lacquer Taft Mega Strong Hold. I use a normal tail comb. I've regularly put up my hair, slept in it, and gone out the next night without having to restyle my hair. It's very epic.
I even made a youtube video about how to do Siouxsie hair! It's very old
It was only very recently that I shaved my hair so I could have a death-hawk (I've always wanted one)
I've also taken inspiration from Siouxsie's makeup. I pluck my eyebrows very straight, but I did this because I wanted to look like Theda Bara.
Here's an old photo of me with my hair in Siouxsie glory. I'm bending down, so my lower half looks really strange o_o;
I've also had the chance to meet Steve Severin who was the guitarist in Siouxsie and the Banshees. He came to Perth during our film festival, his show involved him playing music along to various film pieces his chose.
I got to meet him afterwards!
He's the dude with white hair in the middle. The other people are my friends.
I was a bit star struck but asked him a question. I told him that I had to record the show 'the Ascent of Money' as part of my library job. He did the music for it, and I asked if he enjoyed the show. He said that it was the type of show that sent him to sleep, and I agreed :)

Adam Ant @ The Astor Theatre
Short Version: OH MY FUCKING GOD!
Long Version: This post is VERY picture heavy.
I thought Adam Ant would be one of those bands that I would never see. Adam Ant is such an idol to me. I found out about him when I was researching Punk in my babybat days. He was part of the early Punk movement along with Siouxsie Sioux, The Sex Pistols, and Billy Idol. My music taste is very old school and most of my favourite bands don't tour anymore.
Adam started touring the UK in 2010, I sadly left before I could see him. I thought I was out of luck and I was really jealous of all my UK friends who saw him.
Then the amazing happened, he announced an Australian tour!! I bought my ticket right away.
April 1st couldn't come soon enough, but it finally arrived. I woke in the morning to find my boss at The Loft was talking about how Adam was going to do a set at the club. But I realised it was an April Fools joke :-/
I took my time getting ready and left my house at 5.30pm. The doors opened at 7pm, but I wanted to be in the front of the line. The Astor Theatre is only a 10minute walk from my house.
Here is what I wore:
So I was at the front of the line. I had a good chat with all the ladies who started to line up behind me. It was great seeing all the older people coming out to see someone they loved when they were young.
This is what greeted me when I go to the front of the stage. At this point I couldn't believe my luck! Front row!!
I bought a shirt and a bandanna (very expensive, but what can you do?)
He also played two T-Rex songs :)

Here is what I wore:
Isolation Shirt: From an old Perth alternative club
Skirt: City Chic
Epic belt: Ebay
Boots: Dr. Marten
Tights: Random cut up ones
This is what greeted me when I go to the front of the stage. At this point I couldn't believe my luck! Front row!!
I bought a shirt and a bandanna (very expensive, but what can you do?)
Here I am front of the stage.
The girl next to me bought flowers for Adam :)
The support band was an all girl band called Georgie Girl. They kept it short and sweet.
Everyone was super excited for Adam to come on.
And suddenly, he was standing in front of me. Larger than life and everything I dreamed of. He lots of energy, jumping around on stage. He looked fabulous.
From the start I was pogo-ing and singing along. I find that I can let myself go at concerts when I'm not with my friends.
There are millions of photos. Scroll to the bottom if you don't want to see them.
Adam ripped his shirt apart during a song!
Georgie Girl did backup vocals. Here she is for the song 'Cleopatra'.
I was so close to him!
My perfect standing position gave me the chance to grope Adam's leg when he stood playing guitar. Hopefully he didn't mind!
His set list was great and he played heaps of his old punk tracks.
[EDIT] The list of songs is Plastic Surgery, Dog Eat Dog, Beat My Guest, Kick, Cartrouble, Ants Invasion, Deutscher Girls, Stand and Deliver, Puss n' Boots, Catholic Day, Kings of the Wild Frontier, Wonderful, Whip In My Valise, Vince Taylor, Desperate But Not Serious, Cleopatra, Never Trust A Man, Zerox, Antmusic, Goody Two Shoes, Vive Le Rock, Christian D'or, Lady, Fat Fun, Red Scab, Get It On/20th Century Boy, Prince Charming, Physical (You're So)
SO MANY!
Some of the songs I loved: Kick, Lady (the song about the naked chick), Fat Fun (I was so HAPPY he played this song!), Whip In My Valise (OMG!), Deutscher Girls, Ants Invasion, Beat My Guest. He also played two T-Rex songs :)
I sung to every song and jumped around.
He did two encores!
Then everything stopped for the next part. Adam Ant locked eyes with me, lent forward and handed me his bandanna from around his waist.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I then died
What I actually did was scream loudly and become a fan girl. I am sure he singled me out because I was the only one jumping around for his whole concert (plus green Mohawk might of helped)
The concert ended and everyone went crazy! It was seriously the best gig I've been to in my whole life. I'm so glad to see Adam go back to his punk roots. I love all the songs from that period.
A girl stopped me, she said she reads my blog! This is my first experiance of someone stopping me because they read my blog. So exciting
The second big surprise was yet to come!
A man the in audience handed me a VIP card!!! I had only bought a regular ticket because I'm poor and VIP cost around $250. This man was there with his wife and 15 year old daughter, they had a spare ticket because they won a few in the newspaper.
He told me he was going to give the ticket to whoever knew all the words. It also helped that I knew who Jordan was (he asked me if I dressed like this normally and if I liked Jordan, I said I liked Siouxie Sioux better)
The VIP ticket gave me the chance to meet Adam Ant! We gathered in the upstairs bar and got called down groups at a time to meet Adam. We were aloud to have two things signed.
I also got a free signed poster.
Of course I didn't know what to say to him. I went for a handshake but he gave me a hug instead! I told him that I really enjoyed his music and was very pleased to meet him. He asked me my name, and signed all of my things (he signed four things instead of two)
In this picture he's looking at my work swipe card. He was very soft spoken.
I sneaked my arm around his waist for this photo! To give you an idea of his height, I'm 175cm and wearing flat shoes. I'd say that Adam is average height.
But OMG I got to meet him! I was the luckiest girl in the whole world.
Here is my loot. His bandanna (I'm going to frame this, Adam Ant sweat). My work swipe card, my VIP ticket, ticket stub, poster. I can't believe he took the time to write my name on everything! What a great man.
This is what he wrote on my work card. If Adam says I'm aloud a tea break, then I can't deny him!
BEST NIGHT EVER!
If you have a chance to see Adam Ant, go for it. It is so worth it, he has so much energy and still has a great singing voice.
I was so lucky.
