It's a nice day for a Goth wedding

Today I was invited to the wedding of two of my friends. The weather was sunny, which was a relief as it has been threatening thunderstorms and rain all week. The ceremony was held in Queens Gardens in Perth, and the reception was at a pub. The whole day was very lovely, and it's so good to see such a happy couple. I also got to see some acquaintances that I regularly see out clubbing, it's so strange to see them in the day time ;-)

I wore a new dress I purchased from City Chic especially for the occasion. It's titled Fleetwood Maxi Dress, and you can see from how flowy it is that it's Stevie Nicks inspired. I would really like to dance in this dress in the future, I'll probably wear it to my next club event.

I tied the dress together with:
Belt: Torrid
Tights: We Love Colors
Winklepickers: Pennangalan

In my hair I wore a combination of flower clips I found. The bat necklace is from ebay.
I'm a bit annoyed because I wanted to wear a different lipstick but I couldn't find it! I had to make do with an old one.

I finally also got to wear these fantastic earrings that I was saving for a special occasion. They have different colours shimmering through, mainly green.

June Descent

Last Thursday I got to DJ at Descent, which is our old school Goth music night. It was very quiet, around 30 people came. I was supposed to have two sets, but we closed early so I didn't play my second set. I didn't mind, because I was tired and wanted to go to bed :)

Lace dress: City Chic
Winklepickers: Underground Shoes (I need to get a new pair)
Belt: I can't remember, maybe City Chic?

I love the high-low look. I took off the belt before I left and I wasn't feeling comfortable wearing it.

My hair is taking it's time to grow out, I also need to dye it. I had a go at using green eyeshadow to paint my eyebrows on.
I'm wearing Black Velvet from Lime Crime, part of their new Clueless Witch collection. I'll be doing a review of the two colour I bought from them.

Also wearing my nose chain.

Here is what I played:
Love Song - The Cure
Marian - Sisters of Mercy
Israel - Siouxsie and the Banshees
Spirit Walker - The Cult
Go! - Tones on Tail
Eighties - Killing Joke
Transmission - Joy Division
Rhythms - Crashblack Big Orange
Dandelion King - March Violets
Northanger Abbey - Rule of Thirds

Emotional Problems

Oh wow. I've been feeling horrible for such a long time. Everything is crushing me and I don't think I can take it much longer. This weekend I really just wanted to hide away in my apartment, but I got invited to go to places.

I took the day off work Friday because I was feeling so down. I couldn't bring myself to get out of bed. Instead, I read a book and then cleaned my apartment. I also freshly shaved my head.
Haze and her girlfriend Kylie invited me out for dinner in the evening. I'm really poor at the moment, but I can still afford to go out with friends.

I look grumpy, because I am
New lace dress from City Chic (it was $100, but then down to $40 on sale)
Winklepickers: Underground Shoes
Glasses: Clearly Contacts

On Saturday, I went to visit my dad and step-mum for Fathers Day (although Fathers Day is on Sunday). I got him a gift card so he can buy himself some DVDs.

Me, Dad, my sisters Kirsty and Heather. Dad and Kirsty wearing Star Wars shirts was unintentional.

Also my Granny!

Saturday night I was invited to a warehouse party which I really was not in the mood for. My friend, Lisa, forced me to come. The party started at midnight, and I actually go to bed at 8:30pm (I'm a nanna) so I was really tired! But at least it was a chance to get dressed up and do my makeup. The night wasn't too bad, I got home around 3am.

Gothy Two Shoes List of Plus Size Online Clothing Stores

Plus-size Gothic clothing is very hard to find. Usually, I buy clothes from second hand stores and alter them to fit my style. Being a large girl, I like good quality black clothes that aren't too expensive. But even that is a lot to ask for! I buy clothes online because plus-size Goth clothing is hard to find in Australia (not to mention, it's usually more expensive than getting a few items from overseas)
Below is a list of clothing stores I have found online. I have included a little blurb about the stores I enjoy buying from.
Please leave a comment if you can suggest more online stores.

ASOS Curve: AUSTRALIA (although it does have sites for other countries). This website offers very trendy plus size clothes. Goth and black offerings are few and far between, but there is sometimes a good bargain. You really need to think about how the garment will look on you, because the models they use are pretty thin. The clothing is well made, and I haven't had any trouble with them. They also have a great selection of accessories. Pricing is good, and shipping is FREE!! There are usually coupons for 20% off. They also sell great accessories, I've bought some awesome bags and jewelry.
Quality: Good
Price: Overall it's average. $50 for a dress, $30 for a skirt. Sometimes good bargains in sales.
Rating: A

City Chic: AUSTRALIA. One word: Expensive. The only time I buy clothes from City Chic are in their 70% sales. $150 for ONE DRESS, seriously? I can buy a bunch of clothes from overseas for the same amount WITH shipping. That being said, some of their clothes are very Goth. But I'd seriously wait until sales. $70 for one shirt! Really?! City Chic is one of the only places for girls to buy Plus Size in Australia (if they don't order things overseas). They're clothes are up to date, and not frumpy. They have a good collection of party clothes and cute dresses.
I sometimes have a problem with their sizing, which goes XS, S, M, L, XL. It's sometimes confusing, as their sizing runs larger. I highly suggest going into a store and trying on the clothes. Many of the dresses hang strange and don't look good on the body or they're made out of strange material. Having a friend with you helps. Physical City Chic stores are nice, as they usually hire plus size girls.
Quality: Good
Price: SO EXPENSIVE! :( Wait until sales if you don't want expensive clothes.
Rating: C

Domino Dollhouse: USA. I love this small brand for the fact that they try to make trendy awesome clothes that girls love. They also use plus sized models, including the beautiful Tess Munsters. Clothes here are individual, so it sometimes takes a while for a good Goth item to come along. Sometimes I think "Wow, I love that top. I wish I came in plain black!". They also offer some good petticoats. I'm always excited when a new line comes out and I make a little wish list of what I would buy if I had a bajillion dollars. That being said, prices aren't too bad if you save because you'll be getting a unique piece of clothing that skinnier people won't be able to have. I love seeing customer photos of girls who are the same size as me rocking out in Domino Dollhouse gear. They always look so lovely! This store always high on my list and I recommend it to every plus sized girl.
Quality: Great
Price: A bit on the high side. $70 and less. Postage to Australia can expensive, but cheap if you combine a few items.
Rating: A

New Look: UK. New Look offer the 'Inspire' range of clothing. They're great on a budget, and shipping is also pretty good. It's sometimes a hit and miss in regards to the range of black clothing. They offer clothing that is trendy in the mainstream, and sometimes with bad fabric choices. I've purchased a few items from them, all have been unique that no one else in my town has.
Quality: Great
Price: Prices vary, but there are great bargains at sale time.
Rating: B

Torrid: USA. One thing that's always pissed me off about the Torrid website is that I can't sort by colour. This means I have to click through pages of stuff to find black items. I never really like anything available from Torrid, I guess that's why I've bought only one item from them. The clothing seems very plain for the price they're asking, I always look at the clothes and think "That's really ugly/boring, I don't know who'd buy that". They don't seem to have different collections, so I can come back in a few months and the same clothes would be there. I don't recommend buying unless you find something you like. They make it very difficult to buy things, shipping to Australia costs $41 and they don't take overseas PayPal.
Quality: I only have one item from them, a skull cardigan. The quality is okay.
Price: A bit much for such plain clothes. $30 and upwards.
Rating: D

We Love Colors: USA. Tights and pantyhose. I always buy the "Plus Size Nylon/Lycra Tights" in black. They have a wide range with over 51 colours. They also offer tie-dye, stripe tights and fishnets. The sizes are brilliant, they suit tall girls and are very stretchy but don't lose their shape. The waist sits above my tummy, which I love because it means they wont fall down while I walk. I've had tights that last for 6 months, which I think is great value! The price is about the same you'd pay for a good brand in the store, around $15 for plain tights. Shipping to Australia is $15 flat rate, but they do offer free shipping deals so make sure to grab a bunch when that happens (I just bought 10 pairs with free shipping, they'll last me ages)
I would LOVE to see some different designs printed on the tights. I love the current trend for 'spooky' designs on tights, but they never have plus size options. I'd love a pair of black tights with white or grey bats printed up the leg *hint hint*
Quality: Great, can last for ages!
Price: Tights price is average at $15. Try to wait for free shipping deals to get a good bargain.
Rating: A

Picturing New York @ AGWA

Last Sunday I went to the Picturing New York exhibition at the Art Gallery of Western Australia with a friend. It was the last day of the exhibition, and it's part of the partnership between MoMA and AGWA.
The photographs were interesting, I enjoyed the architecture photos. I don't think I enjoyed this exhibition as much as the last one.
I'm very excited about the next one, because it will feature Dali artwork.
The museum currently has a Egypt exhibit on now, so I'm looking forward to seeing that!

After going to the art gallery, I fell on the stairs on the bus and fractured my ankle :(
At least I looked cute?

I'm not to sure about this red lipstick. It feels a bit orange?
The sweater clip is actually a skull collar chain from Asos.

Cardigan: Banned (I'm not happy about the quality, especially because it cost $50)
Shirt: City Chic
Skirt: It's either Asos or Evans (I can't get up to check because of broken ankle)

I always said that City Chic were too expensive, but they're really bringing out some cute stuff. It can't resist it!

After walking through the exhibition, there was a photo opportunity at the end with a landscape of New York. Here is me and my friend. I worked with him at Fringe World, and I didn't realise we had so much in common.

Shop Till You Drop

Yesterday, Dani and I had pancakes for breakfast and did a lot of shopping.

Dress: Asos Curve
Tights: City Chic
Winklepickers: Demonia

I cut out the front of a Bowie shirt and safety pinned it to a bag I didn't like.

Dani, looking cute like always!

We sat in the mall and did some people-watching. One of my favourite things to do. There are so many girls wearing leggings as pants, and many more with denim underwear (really tiny denim shorts).

Wishing To Hide

There were many benefits to working at Fringe World. They invited all of the workers for a free dinner at Devilles Pad. Who can pass up a free dinner?
Thursday night at Devilles is karaoke night, and of course I sang Bowie. I did Let's Dance this time.
Initially I was a bit anxious to go. I don't enjoy being around people sometimes, even if I'm with friends. Lately I've been wanting to stay at home and hide away.

What's with this pose I'm pulling? I also have a new bag from Kreepsville.

High Tea

I've been very busy with work. Each day I wake up at 6am, get to the library around 8am. I work till 4.30 then go into Perth and work at the Fringe World boxoffice until midnight. Go home, sleep, repeat.

I luckily had Sunday off and I took the chance to see a wedding dress exhibition at the West Australian Museum. There was an awesome offer of having high tea if you payed a higher price (the high tea included entry to the exhibition). I never pass up a high tea. I wish my friend Merissa was still in Perth, because we would have had so much fun together. I bet she's having a wonderful time in the UK, but I really miss her.
Lisa, who runs descent, came with me. She's a really nice girl and I enjoy her company.

The food was so yummy. There were finger sandwiches with the crust cut off, quiches, cakes, scones with lots of real cream and jam. YUM! and unlimited pots of tea! I had about five cups of tea :)

After stuffing ourselves on scones and tea, we headed into the exhibition. Sadly no photography was allowed. They did have a few dresses out front of the exhibition that I took a photo of.
The exhibition is from the Victoria and Albert museum in London. It features wedding dresses through the ages, from regency times to current. I love fashion history! There were some brilliant dresses, I loved looking at all of the details. It made me wish that I will get married one day. I'm going to have an uber goth wedding with coffins and bats!
It was so interesting to imagine all of the women who wore these dresses. Imagine how scared they must have been!! It must have been so scary not knowing what to expect in the bedroom after the wedding was over. Poor girls.

Some dresses from the museum collection.

Dinosaur in a veil!

It was a warm day, so I wore this cute dress. I'm OVER hiding my arms away. I'm going to wear sleeveless shirts without feeling ashamed!
Dress: Crossroads (I got it on sale for $10)
Belt: City Chic
Tights: We Love Colors
Winklepickers: Underground Shoes

Working at the box office is going well. Basically I'm ordering tickets for customers. I forgot about how much I dislike customers! Some people are VERY rude.
I've watched a few Fringe shows, I get in for free with my staff pass. My favourite so far has been Briefs. I only get around one day off a week, so I haven't been home much other than to sleep.

Always Eat Cake

On the weekend I went to have lunch with a new friend Lisa. I know Lisa from the goth scene in Perth, she's a wonderful girl and runs the club night Descent.

I was craving something sweet after lunch so we went to another cafe for cake. YUM!

What I'm wearing:
Shirt: City Chic
Skirt: Big W
Boots: Ebay

Sunny Winter

Winter might mean snow for you, but here in Perth it's still 19 degrees and sunny! It never seems to get cold here, which really sucks because I love the cold.

Today I went into Perth to go shopping with Dani. I left my house a bit early and walked into Perth because I wanted to check out a record store on the way in. No luck in finding a Goth/Post-punk gem.

There was a great band busking in Perth while I was waiting. They were playing 60s and 50s music, which I enjoy listening to. I usually really dislike buskers, I can't stand them. These guys are probably the only ones that I would stop and listen to.

When Dani arrived we went shopping :)

I wore:
Cotton biker jacket: Ebay
Rib shirt: Store in Perth
Skirt: City Chic
Tights: DIY myself
Boots: Dr. Marten

Here is Dani, looking cute like always!

I bought a bread tin because I'm going to attempt to make some banana bread for my friends. I also bought a new bag from Red Stripe Clothing, it's a Kreepsville bag.

I'm going to use it for sleepovers and trips away.

I got this great candle holder from the Reject Shop, I carried it home on the bus :P

Lots of walking, but I love hanging out with Dani. We took some Timezone photos too!

I was suppose to go to the roller derby tonight, by my friends bailed on me. It made me a bit sad.

Piles of New Clothes

Last week I got so many new clothes! City Chic are currently having a 50%-75% off sale. This is huge! Usually only one of their dresses costs $100, but I got a few outfits for $100. I'm very proud of myself :)

I'm wearing red!! Isn't that spooky? The red skirt was defiantly an impulse buy, I wasn't sure if it suited me and I didn't have a friend there to give me an opinion.
I also bought the lace pussy-bow top. Pussy-bows are awesome, and this will look great with a corset!!
The red belt is from my wardrobe.

The back has a cute cutout.

The skirt is an animal print. I think I will have to get used to it!

This dress looks so UGLY on the hanger. I wasn't going to even try it on at the store because it looked so yucky. But I ended up trying it, and it's basically the cutest dress ever.

Such a cute dress! I'm very glad that I took the time to try it on. There were a bunch of dresses that I tried on, and it turned out that the ones I wanted didn't sit properly on me. They were made out of horrible heavy material. The last item I bought was a cardigan with lace on the sleeves. I didn't take a photo because I'm lazy :)

If you follow BatFit, you'll know that Le Professor Gothique has lost a lot of weight and it looking fabulous!! But what is a girl to do with all of her too-big clothes? Well, give them to me, of course!!
That's right! Le Professor Gothique sent me all of her old clothes from America. I was so excited to receive them, but also a bit scared because I didn't know what the sizing would be like. American and Australian sizing is so different!
Luckily everything fit!! It's such a strange feeling actually holding clothes that you've seen on someone else's blog. If you look through Le Professor Gothique's archive you'll find most of these clothes! It's surreal. I'm such a lucky girl, and she was a great sport sending her clothes to me.

Here we have a black lightweight jacket, I'm not sure what the fabric is but it's great for the weather we're having at the moment. I wore this to work last week, so you can see one of my badges already on the jacket :)
Also a cute grey leopard print skirt. I never thought that I would own a leopard print skirt!
There was also a gift with my package, a Trash and Vaudeville shirt! YAY!

This is the same jacket, but in purple. I've never owned a purple jacket! So exciting.
This is most likely the most cutest shirt I now own. It's a sheer lace top that's very flowy and flattering to my figure.
The skirt is very interesting and has little fluttering points of fabric. The belt is so 80s! I love it!
There were some other awesome clothes included in my package, but I'm a bit lazy today :)

THANK YOU TO LE PROFESSOR GOTHIQUE! You are seriously the best, I have so many awesome clothes.

Old School Goth

On Thursday night (May 3rd 2012) I went to an old school goth night by myself. Sadly my friends are not into post-punk and traditional goth, like I am. I was really nervous going by myself, especially since I had to walk into town by myself all dressed up.

The night was held at a pub, the event was created by one of the elder goths who missed listening to good music and meeting up with old friends. I'm very young, so I didn't know many people there. At least I looked good!

I paid $6 for a pint of lemonade! It was such a rip off. I had water afterwards, because glasses of water are free
