READ

To honor the passing of David Bowie, the American Library Association has re-released the famous Bowie 'Read' poster which was created in 1987 [link]
As soon as I heard about this I knew I needed to purchase one asap. I've been wanting one of these posters for years, but I could never find one.
I was devastated to find that the ALA does not ship overseas :(
Luckily, my New York friend, Mo, came to the rescue and she kindly acted as my go between in order to purchase and ship to Australia. (Thanks again, Mo, for being wonderful!!)

I'm very happy with my poster, and I'm looking at getting it framed or block mounted in order to preserve it better. This is a really lovely poster, and I can't wait to put it near my book case.
Frankly, I still haven't been able to process the passing of David Bowie. I won't be posting anything about his death, because I don't think I can put into words how much he meant to me.

What I Wore: Last Hobbit Film

On Monday I went to see the last Hobbit film with my dad. I really enjoyed the movie, even though a lot of reviews complained about the length, etc. I'm a big fan of Peter Jackson's film style, and I think he did well with the Hobbit films. We watched it in 3D IMAX, which is a bit difficult if you wear reading glasses like I do, having to put the 3D glasses over the top of them :-/

The day was a bit warm, so I decided to wear bare legs.
Shirt: Gift from friend
Skirt: Evans
Frilly socks: Evans
Creepers: TUK

I'm wearing some cute black frilly socks and my winklepicker creepers I bought online at TUK 4th of July sale.

I'm wearing a bandana because my hair is in desperate need of a dye. You can see my blonde regrowth!

Two Bowie's for the price of one!

Shopping and New Hat

Yesterday I went shopping in Perth with Danie. I haven't seen Danie for over a year now, so it was nice to catch up with her.

I'm terrible with remembering where I bought my clothes.
Bowie shirt: random website
Skirt: Big W
Tights: We Love Colors
Boots: Justin Roper Boots

Lipstick: Vamp from Sleek

I got this wide brimmed felt hat for $10 at Target.

Looking like a dork :)

Here's Danie!

Here's the view of Perth from the top floor of the WA State Library.
I had an hour to spare before I started a shift at Rooftop Movies, so I went to read my kindle at the library.

"David Bowie Is" Exhibition Film

As you may already know, the Victoria and Albert museum in London created a David Bowie exhibition to celebrate all that is Bowie. It's called "David Bowie Is".
It was a huge success, and the exhibition is now traveling the world. They also released a film as a walkthrough of the exhibition, to show some interesting pieces and segments with guest stars explaining how Bowie has influenced them and the world. I think the film is for people who can't attend the exhibition, but would like to see how it looked and some of the items.

I enjoyed the film a lot, and I loved seeing some new things. What I didn't like was the inclusion of posed actors pretending to look at the exhibition items, because it looked so fake and awkward.

The exhibition will be coming to Melbourne, Australia next year and I have already bought my ticket. I have not been to Melbourne before, so I'm excited at the chance to visit although I'm more excited to see the Bowie exhibition.

The film showed at Luna Cinemas in Leederville. $25 is a bit expensive, seeing as the tickets for the exhibition itself are the same price.

My friend and I had pizza at Little Caesars in Leederville before the film. I'm pretty sure that Little Caesar's here is different from the one in America.
We had a chicken pizza, and a red velvet dessert pizza. Both were really, really good.
We couldn't finish them, even though they were really yummy.

LOOK AT IT!
I've only had dessert pizza twice, and it's slowly growing on me. I can't explain how good the red velvet was.

Here's me at the cinema, standing next to a Bowie display.
I can't wait to see the real exhibition next year in Melbourne!

25th Birthday Party

I had my birthday party on Saturday. I organised a picnic bbq at a park near my apartment.
I invited some friends and co-workers. My sister bought me these awesome dinosaur balloons!!
I'm wearing
Dress: Asos Curve
Shoes: TUK Creepers
Socks: Evans

I organised a lot of food, and everyone brought a plate so we had more than enough. We also played party games like Pass the Parcel and Pinata!

My co-worker, Rowena, having a whack

My little sister Heather

My wonderful co-worker brought me this huge cake! We could hardly eat any of it because we were stuffed!

It was very windy so it was difficult to light the candles.

Here's me being embarrassed while everyone sings "Happy Birthday"

Here is one of my presents. A Bowie paperdoll!!

The outfits in this book were either Ziggy or Thin White Duke. No Jareth the Goblin King or Clown Bowie :(

I don't think Bowie wears tighty whiteys

One of my co-workers make me this awesome pin cushion!!!! I can't describe how awesome this is. Look at the bats!

On the bottom is this cute spiderweb and spider!! WOAH!

I also got a Bowie pillow, so I can sleep with Bowie every night!
I also got an awesome skull rug, rock candy, makeup, and a candle. I was very spoilt.

I really enjoyed my birthday party, I'm glad that everyone had fun.

Monday the 10th was my actual birthday, which I spent at work. It was very uneventful and quiet, because everyone in my department was away (either sick, or had time off). I treated myself to Ben and Jerry's ice cream after dinner, it was awesome :)

Rocky Horror Karaoke @ Devilles

Every Thursday night Devilles has karaoke night! This time was a special Rocky Horror karaoke that my friend ran (he dressed at Frank). Devilles is a bar/restaurant/club, it's probably the most nicely decorated place in Perth. Vintage 'hell' theme :P
I'm terrible at singing, but I gave it a shot anyway. I sang China Girl by David Bowie. The girl before me was even worse, she was drunk and falling about on stage. Then she fell down the stairs and lay there crying. I think they had to get an ambulance in. I don't understand why people drink.

I forgot to take a photo of my outfit AGAIN!
Luckily you can see what I'm wearing here.

Lace shirt: From ex-friend
Lace overtop: New Look
Skirt: Big W
Tights: We Love Colors
Winklepickers: Underground Shoes

The Weekend That Was...

This post took ages, due to Blogger telling me that I had gone over my photo limit :(

I had a very busy weekend. First off, I DJed at Club Unknown.

Fishnet top: Made from tights
Black singlet
Corset: Ebay
Skirt: Yours Clothing
Epic Belt: Ebay
Shoes: Demonia

On Sunday night we had a David Bowie tribute night at the Loft. I was so lucky to DJ, I love Bowie :)

Top: Hot Topic, gift from friend (this was a womens XL so I had to cut it up)
Skirt: Target
Boots: Demonia

Check out all the glitter!! Everyone loved my lips, and lots of girls asked where I got my lipstick from. It's not lipstick! :)
I just used eyelash glue on my lips and stuck on hologram glitter.

I kept my hair up from the night before.

Yay for Bowie!

Wednesday Wants

First off, I'd like to say thanks for everyone who follows me. I have 23 people following me at the moment, and it makes me very happy. I never knew people would be interested in reading my blog.

Recently I got a bit of bad news. Sisters of Mercy were to come to Australia/Perth for a festival called Soundwave Revolution. Only yesterday news came out that Soundwave Revolution was cancelled.
It has made me very annoyed, I've always wanted to see Sisters of Mercy and had bought 2 tickets early. There is a great backlash in Australia about it. Apparently it was cancelled because one band pulled out, even though they already had plenty of good bands (Alice Cooper being one). I rarely go to concerts/festivals because none of the bands appeal to me, and this was the first time I willing bought a festival ticket. Luckily they're refunding tickets, but I would still love the see Sisters of Mercy.

Rockabilly Fetish Keyhole Spiked Pencil Dress. Inspired Insanity, $54.95. Keyhole neck outfits are very cute. I've never owned something with a keyhole neck, but there is a lot of it in the Goth scene. I would buy this dress, but I would like to see how it sits on me first.

Labyrinth David Bowie Jareth Talking 12-Inch Action Figure. Dark Figures, $29.99. I already have the non-talking Jareth figure, but I would LOVE the talking version. I love Bowie, and the Labyrinth. It's very hard to find a good priced Jareth doll, but I might look into it.

Inspire Sheer Sleeve Pussy Bow Top. New Look, £17.99. I love pussy bows! Also, I'm very sorry about the crappy quality of the photo. I still don't know how to grab a good one off the New Look website. Please go to the website if you'd like to see a better photo.

Here is a video from Sisters of Mercy, it really sucks that I wont be able to see them:

The Loft's First Birthday

On Sunday I went to one of my favourite clubs in Perth. The Loft celebrated it's first birthday and had a members only hour, which was great fun. The rest of the night was open to everyone, and door proceeds went to charity. I love DJing at the Loft, if you live in Perth I suggest you check it out. It's always a fun night!
The Loft plays alternative 80's, 90's, and beyond.

Bowie Shirt: No idea where this came from. Maybe one of those places that sells band shirts for $10. I customised it myself.
Skirt: New Look
Tights: One pair sheer Evans, one pair fishnet Evans.
Boots: Dr. Marten

Back of my Bowie shirt, with a glimpse of my Bowie tattoo on the right shoulder.

Necklaces: Silver crosses, Diva. Wooden rosary, $2 shop.

I wore really plain makeup, I was running late for the train and caught it with only a minute to spare! No foundation, only powder, eyeliner and shadow, and lip gloss (which I never wear).

Wedneday Wants- Job Edition

So, I got a job! YAY!!!
I am so happy, I'm starting Thursday. I spent all last night thinking about what stuff I can buy. Things I've been craving but don't have enough money for.
So, this is the wish list that will most likely come true. I'm totally buying that zombie chomper handbag from a previous Wednesday Want. And a whole lot of waist belts.

Shadoweyes, Volume 2 Shadoweyes In Love. $9usd Amazon. I've loved Ross Campbell's work since picking up a copy of The Abandoned in my local comic store. His characters are mainly alternative and there are HEAPS of curvy girls, each with a unique style. I'm a big fan of his series Wet Moon, and I've collected all his works. Shadoweyes is a fairly recent comic book from Ross, but apparently he's had the idea ever since a child. I look forward to more work from him.

The Walking Dead, Volume 11 Fear The Hunters. $9usd Amazon. I'm also a fan of the Walking Dead series of comics. I collected my first issue back in high school, it was on sale and I love anything zombie related. I then collected the rest of the series, and I'm up to Volume 10. I haven't had enough money to buy Volume 11 and upwards. I can't wait to re-read the whole series, it only takes me about 30mins to get though one. Totally worth it though, brilliant characters and great artwork. Plus zombies!

Glam Breakfast Mug. Hark! A Vagrant, $14usd. It's a Ziggy Stardust mug, what more can I say?

Black steel boned buckle corset. Minx Corsets, $150aud. I need a new corset! Luckily one of my good friends runs a corset shop. I've always wanted a buckled corset, and I love the fact that it's satin and not PVC like so many corsets with buckles.
