Aggrotech and Hellectro. Wikipedia defines this as "Aggrotech regularly consists of harsh song structures, aggressive beats, and explicit, pessimistic, militant lyrics" [source]
It was a bit difficult to get into this sort of music. I really dislike screamy singing, but I think the band that made me love Aggrotech was Feindlug. I slowly started listening to the music more and got used to it over time.
Ersatzteil by Feindflug
I remember hearing this song so often at the club that I really started to like it. It's so stompy and flowing at the same time.
Another Aggrotech band is Nactmahr, who I had the pleasure of seeing in 2011. A very good band with a great stage performance.

EBM Grows On You: Part 4
Today I'm going to show you a few Synth songs.
Join In The Chant by Nitzer Ebb
The Model by Kraftwerk
Headhunter by Front 242
Mr. T by Sturm Cafe
I heard about Sturm Cafe from my mate Merissa. She was playing their album "So Seelisch, So Schön!" in the car, and it was so catchy I had to download it.
You can download it online for around $7 through this website (search for Sturm Cafe, and So Seelisch So Schon should be in the list)

EBM Grows On You: Part 3
I've been enjoying the new album from Shiv-r recently. They're a band from Australia and I first fell in love with the song Parasite from their album Hold My Hand
I call this the 'Ghost song' because the electronic wailing reminds me of ghosts :P
I received their new album This World Erase from my friend for Xmas. It's a brilliant album and I enjoy all of the songs. I think it's great that Shiv-r have been able to produce an album that has no 'weak' tracks like many EBM albums have. I once said to a friend that with EMB music you have to wade through a lot of crap to find one good song (this goes with all Goth electronic bands) but Shiv-r's new album just has track after track of great music. Maybe it's because some of the vocals sound very Mansonish.
This Fix by Shiv-r
Alpha Omega by Shiv-r (this is my favourite)
Hollow Mask by Shiv-r
I remember that they came to Perth once. I did not go to the gig, due to it being run by someone who's done my friend wrong (oh the drama!)
But I remember seeing the singer and his wife the next day while I was waiting for a friend in Perth. They were so cute!! I was very annoyed that guys like him don't exist in Perth. Oh well.

Combichrist @ Amplifier, Perth
Combichrist played in Perth on the 15th of January. They're not my favourite band, but I went to represent my friend, DJ Xymox, who did a DJ set before the gig.
She played before ZooG (from Angelspit) and I thought her DJ set was brilliant.
Many of us were disappointed that Combichrist didn't play any of their known classics. I would of loved to hear "This is my rifle" but they played mainly from their new album.
The energy of the show was great non the less. I was at the front, getting squished by sticky guys who were jumping around :(
It was interesting seeing people in the audience who've I've never seen around the Goth scene.
I've also heard from a good source that Combichrist are very much Divas and are very elitist. I doubt I will see them again if they come back to Perth.
Bring on Sisters of Mercy in March!!
Don't mind me, I look pretty crazy in this photo :P
What I wore:
Shirt: Camden markets
Fishnet top: Made from tights
Corset: Ebay
Skirt: Target
Tights: Cut up from stuff I already have
Boots: Demonia

EBM Grows On You: Part 1
I used to hate EBM with a passion. I'd shudder and groan at the club when it was played, wishing they'd put on some Siouxsie instead.
I listened to only trad goth bands. Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, The Cure, etc. I thought EBM and Industrial music was a waste of time...
Then it grew on me...
I started liking certain EBM songs at the club. I wouldn't dance to them, but my foot wouldn't stop tapping.
It's generally a joke amongst my friends that I'm an 'elitist' goth because I only liked trad goth. They liked lots of EBM and dance type music, which slowly got me into it.
Now days I'm right on the dance floor with them when a EBM song is played.
I know some of you might be the same as me, hating EBM. So I thought I'd show you a few songs I really enjoy so you can slowly get into it too. Some of the songs aren't considered EBM, but they're different from trad goth.
Most of these are generally considered club classics, so you'll most likely hear them at the clubs you go to.
Once In A Lifetime by Wolfsheim
My World by Colony 5
Call The Ships To Port by Covenant
