Picnic

Here are a few photos of me from a picnic I went to yesterday. I made potato salad and brownies!
The green poppy dress is from Yours Clothing.

I had just put a LOAD of whipped cream on a brownie. Just because.

Here is a photo of me from the last Descent!

Do You Know These Docs?

I bought these pointy buckled winklepicker Doc Martens on ebay a few months ago. I've been looking around everywhere on the internet for information about them, but I can't find anything.
Do you know anything about these, or do you know someone who might? I'd really like to know how rare they are, and what era they are from. I've contacted the Doc Marten website, but they haven't got back to me (I hate big corporations sometimes).

Basically I want this information so I can start wearing them. I don't want to ruin rare boots! Any help will be wonderful! They're a size 10, in case you're wondering.

Friday I'm In Love

Lately I feel that I've been letting all my readers down. I haven't been going out, so I haven't been posting outfit posts. I'm not sure how I can remedy that, my self taken photos are always really bad quality!!

I have two DJ gigs coming up. Bowie night at the Loft and the next Descent. I'll make sure to post both playlists!!

I've booked my flight to London in October! I'll be going to Paris, Rome, Vienna, Berlin, London, Manchester and Whitby. I'll be going to the 2013 Whitby weekend in October, so that will be fun. I can't wait to see my best friend Merissa in London, I miss her so much.

Buying Prescription Glasses Online

I have bad eyes, and I have to wear prescription glasses. I've had eye troubles since I was a kid. I have to use them for reading and using the computer, words seem hard to read without my glasses. I wear them all the time, apart from when I'm going out (such as clubbing, or transiting to/from work).

If you wear glasses you know how much they can cost. I have health insurance, so I get one free pair a year. I always add anti-glare coating to them, so this is sometimes an extra $50.
I read up a bit about buying prescription glasses online.

You first need your eye script. You can get this from your optometrist for free. When you get your eyes check, just ask for a print out. Sometimes they can get annoyed because they know that people go online to buy glasses. If they say anything, tell them it's for your own records. They can't really deny giving you your own eye record.

The second thing you'll need is your PD measurement or Pupil Distance. This is the distance from the centre of both pupils. The optometrist generally won't give you this, but it's easy to work out yourself! Grab a ruler and a friend (or a mirror). Measure in millimeters, line up the 0 with the centre of one pupil and measure to the centre of your other pupil. Do it a few times to get an accurate reading, don't worry if it's a few millimetres off!
I did this myself, and I got the reading of 68mm (or 6.8 cms). It took a little while for me to figure out the reading, but don't worry too much about it.

Next, look at some glasses websites! I chose Zenni Optical and Clearly Contacts (this is the Australian site, but there are websites for other countries too).
The system of putting your eye details in is very easy, if I can do it then you can too!

This pair is frame number # 483921 from Zenni. The frames cost $35.95, I added a anti-glare coating for $4.95. Shipping was $9.95, so the grand total for these glasses was only $50.85.
They are a cute cat-eye frame. Very sturdy.

These are from Clearly Contacts, called Love L756. The frames cost $69, BUT I used a online voucher for my first pair free. I paid $19.95 for a coatings bundle which included anti-glare. Postage was $12.99. So these glasses only cost $32.95!! A real bargain. I highly suggest looking around online for vouchers. I used Retail Me Not, but do a google search too!

I enjoy my Love L756 glasses better, only because I like the large frames (so I don't have to keep tilting my head to read through the lenses).
The only hard part of buying prescription glasses online is not knowing how they will look on you!

Black Thumb

I have terrible luck with plants. I owned a jade plant once, they are very hardy, but I came back from a two day holiday to find it broken in half. I was very strange, seeing as there was nothing to cause that.

Anyways, look what I found:

So cute!! I found these at Bunnings. Bunnings is an Australian hardware store, everyone will go there during a zombie Apocalypse. They also had cute little pots of Venus Fly Traps, but I don't think I would be able to look after them.
I should have better luck with a cactus. They need very little care, and very little water.

I like the shape of the spikes and the little flowers blooming.

I also bought a lavender plant which will require more care. I hope I can do it, I love lavender.

Shop Till You Drop

Yesterday, Dani and I had pancakes for breakfast and did a lot of shopping.

Dress: Asos Curve
Tights: City Chic
Winklepickers: Demonia

I cut out the front of a Bowie shirt and safety pinned it to a bag I didn't like.

Dani, looking cute like always!

We sat in the mall and did some people-watching. One of my favourite things to do. There are so many girls wearing leggings as pants, and many more with denim underwear (really tiny denim shorts).

Monthly Homework Assignment: April Showers

It has been rainy here in Perth the last few days. Sadly, it's not cold so the resulting days are humid :(

I've been on the lookout for a good umbrella for a long time. I love compact umbrellas, so I can fold it and carry it in my bag. Whenever I buy an umbrella, it seems to die once a gust of wind comes along. Apparently, Perth is the second windiest city in the world, so that doesn't mix well with umbrellas.
I don't ask for much in an umbrella, I want it to cover my hair and makeup. I don't want the rain to wash off my eyebrows and ruin my hair!

My favourite rain boots are my Dr. Martens. I make sure to polish them well, so they are water proof. They're great for splashing around.

These are my current boots and they're looking a bit sad.

They have a hole in the sole, that lets in the water! :( That means I get sad wet feet.

Luckily, I have bought a new pair.
I got these second hand on ebay. I totally recommend buying online, as they are much cheaper than getting from a store. You can do the sneaky thing, and go into a store to find your size then buy online. It seems a bit low, but the shoes in the store can cost $200 when they're only $100 online.

I'm not looking forward to breaking them in, there will be many blisters and bandaids. Once I have broken them in I will have a lovely pair of boots for the coming winter! Yay!!
