Incursion July: Atomic Winter

Last night I DJed at Incursion. I had the opening set and the midnight set. Everyone was dancing to my midnight set, so I think I did well (there's no one around at the opening set, so I played whatever I wanted).

The theme was Atomic Winter, due to the fact that it's winter here in Australia (I guess). I didn't wear anything special, but my hair has finally grown enough so I can have a mohawk again.

The club was decorated like a post-apocalyptic wasteland (ignore the ladder, that got put away)

I spray painted a triforce :P

View towards the DJ booth.

I'm DJ Prudish

Here is what I wore!
Jacket: No Future (decorated by me)
Shirt: Primark
Skirt: City Chic
Winklepickers: Underground Shoes

I wore the Kooky lipstick that I reviewed in my previous post.

Sharon Needles

A little while ago I saw Sharon Needles at the Perth gay club Connections. Photos taken by my friend Haze.
I didn't know what to expect, because I've never seen a drag show before. Sharon Needles was the winner of the fourth season of RuPaul's Drag Race (which I love!).

It was really horrible and hot where I was standing.

I didn't actually stay for all of Sharon's show. After her first song I felt really ill and I felt like I needed to sit down. There was no seating at the club (what the hell?!) so I actually bailed early and caught a taxi home.

Incursion PLUS Extra News

This past weekend was a busy one for me! The club night Incursion finally happened, it went really well! Incursion was a costume party with a military theme, everyone looked great.

I have an online friend, Lana, who flew over with her boyfriend to attend and DJ at Incursion. It was a birthday present for her boyfriend, but they've also never been to Perth. I took the day off Friday to show them around a bit, I took them to Fremantle which I hoped they liked.
On Saturday, we all helped set up the club. Putting up posters and making sure everything looked nice.

Here's what I looked like on Saturday night for Incursion!

Blue makeup! Blue lipbalm by Morgana Cryptoria

Nosechain!

I don't really own anything military themed. I had this military shirt laying around, it had gold buttons so I painted with nailpolish to make them black.
Top: New Look
Corset: Minx Corsetry
Skirt: Yours Clothing
Winklepicker boots: Demonia

Here's what my Sydney friend Lana wore! She looked very nice, and spend a lot of time on her costume.
She had a lot of Nazi imagery, but I hope my readers can understand that she's not a Nazi and it was just a costume.

There was ANNOYING DRAMA caused by people taking offence at some Nazi costumes. The people who complained are known trolls/people who cause trouble. They singled out one of my friends and have started bullying her online. THIS IS NOT OKAY. I have a lot to say about this subject, but I really don't want to write on my blog about that.

Here we are together in a very blurry photo :)

My best friend Merissa DJing.

Me and my friend Jane. She looked so CUTE!!

I hope that my Sydney friend, Lana, enjoyed her stay. I loved meeting her and showing her around Perth. She is really generous and kind, and I can't wait to see her again.

EXTRA NEWS:
My best friend has left Perth :(
Merissa has been planning to move over to the UK for a few months now. Tuesday morning she was flying out, so on Monday night a few of us stayed up all night to be with her. We took her to the airport and said goodbye to her. I cried!! :(
I'm going to miss her so much! I don't know what I'll do without her :(

Subhumans 2012

Here is what I wore to the Subhumans gig two weeks ago. I couldn't find my camera stand, so sorry about 'full body' shots.
I was probaly the only punkrock/goth girl there. Perth is sadly lacking cute punk girls, there were lots of yucky dirty boys though.
The gig was great, I'm not a follower of the Subhumans music but I knew that they're an influencial punk band from the 80s. I'm pretty certain it was their first time in Perth, and I really enjoyed their music

Punk Rock Girl

Last night I went to Descent, which is an old school goth night in Perth. It's a fairly new night, this being the second time it's run. It's great to be able to listen to awesome music. I decided to put up my hawk, seeing as I had to wash my hair afterwards anyway.

I enjoyed myself, I danced a bit and got home at midnight.

A Week Behind

I had a pretty busy weekend, last weekend. Yes, I'm a week behind in my blogging. What can I say? I'm lazy :P

On Satuday 23rd I went to see A Royal Affair with my friend Merissa. The film is about the Danish royal family in the 18th Century. I love historical movies, and Merissa and me always go to see them together. The cinema was packed with what Merissa calls the 'Blue Rinse Brigade', all the old ladies going to see the film. Me and Merissa were the youngest there :P
The film was great! Costumes and settings were lovely. I would totally go and watch it again.

I wore:
Sisters of Mercy Shirt: Ebay
Skirt: Big W
Tights: Kmart
Winklepickers: Demonia (the heel fell off, again! I might write and angry letter to demonia)
Cotton biker jacket: Ebay (studded by myself!)

Later that night I went to a 'reunion' type of night that was for all the older alternative types to get together. That didn't stop me going! I was a bit over-dressed though, but I guess it's better to be over-dressed intead of under-dressed.
A irish guy complemented me on my hawk. He then asked me what type of music I'd like to have played, I quickly searched my brain for a really obsure goth band :P
"definatly Danse Society" I said, sipping my lemonade.

Check out my cute bat hairclip. I got it from etsy!

Please excuse creepy glowing eyes.

Specimen shirt: From their gig I saw in London 2010
Corset: ebay
Epic belt: ebay
Skirt: Yours Clothing
Winklepickers: Demonia

The next day I walked to a retro/vintage market that was being held in the next suburb. I underestimated how long it would take to walk there, so it took an hour both ways. Well, at least I like walking! :P
I bought two records, Bowie and Adam Ant. I'm trying to start to collect records, I've always loved records but I've never been in the position to buy any. Sadly all of my favourite bands are really hard to find, I'm not going to find a Red Lorry Yellow Lorry album easily!! I think that's where the internet comes in. If you have old goth records you don't want, give me a yell. I'll buy some! :)

On Sunday evening I headed off to The Loft. It was their 2nd birthday celebration, sadly I didn't get to DJ :(
I left my hawk up from the night before, too much effort to wash it out and put it back up again.

I wore a super cute dress that I got at City Chic on sale. The dress is really ugly and square on the hanger, but it looks curvy and brilliant when I wear it.
I had to wear my other demonia winklepickers because my favourite ones broke again :(

Again, sorry for any spelling mistakes. Spell check isn't working again, damn Blogger.

Sad news, I won't be able to DJ for a while. The Loft isn't running weekly, and The Crypt has to find a new venue. I'm really sad, as I love to play music and make people dance.

Rocky Horror Karaoke @ Devilles

Every Thursday night Devilles has karaoke night! This time was a special Rocky Horror karaoke that my friend ran (he dressed at Frank). Devilles is a bar/restaurant/club, it's probably the most nicely decorated place in Perth. Vintage 'hell' theme :P
I'm terrible at singing, but I gave it a shot anyway. I sang China Girl by David Bowie. The girl before me was even worse, she was drunk and falling about on stage. Then she fell down the stairs and lay there crying. I think they had to get an ambulance in. I don't understand why people drink.

I forgot to take a photo of my outfit AGAIN!
Luckily you can see what I'm wearing here.

Old School Goth

On Thursday night (May 3rd 2012) I went to an old school goth night by myself. Sadly my friends are not into post-punk and traditional goth, like I am. I was really nervous going by myself, especially since I had to walk into town by myself all dressed up.

The night was held at a pub, the event was created by one of the elder goths who missed listening to good music and meeting up with old friends. I'm very young, so I didn't know many people there. At least I looked good!

I paid $6 for a pint of lemonade! It was such a rip off. I had water afterwards, because glasses of water are free

The Crypt Opens

Last night was the opening of the new Goth club in Perth called The Crypt. My friend, Merissa, is the organiser of this new club. She has put so much into it, it was great seeing it all come together.

Merissa and Me spent an hour decorating the venue. Merissa bought a lot of candles at Ikea. I bought my incense, along with crushed velvet. It was very goth :P

I got to DJ early, I get to play all of my favourite post-punk and tradgoth.

Here is what I wore:
Fear my fat arms!
Shirt: Random store in Perth
Corset: Minx Corsets
Skirt: Target
Tights: Leg Avenue
Winklepicker boots: Demonia

My hair went fluro green under the blue lights.

Adam Ant @ The Astor Theatre

Short Version: OH MY FUCKING GOD!

Long Version: This post is VERY picture heavy.

I thought Adam Ant would be one of those bands that I would never see. Adam Ant is such an idol to me. I found out about him when I was researching Punk in my babybat days. He was part of the early Punk movement along with Siouxsie Sioux, The Sex Pistols, and Billy Idol. My music taste is very old school and most of my favourite bands don't tour anymore.

Adam started touring the UK in 2010, I sadly left before I could see him. I thought I was out of luck and I was really jealous of all my UK friends who saw him.
Then the amazing happened, he announced an Australian tour!! I bought my ticket right away.

April 1st couldn't come soon enough, but it finally arrived. I woke in the morning to find my boss at The Loft was talking about how Adam was going to do a set at the club. But I realised it was an April Fools joke :-/

I took my time getting ready and left my house at 5.30pm. The doors opened at 7pm, but I wanted to be in the front of the line. The Astor Theatre is only a 10minute walk from my house.

Here is what I wore:

Isolation Shirt: From an old Perth alternative club
Skirt: City Chic
Epic belt: Ebay
Boots: Dr. Marten
Tights: Random cut up ones

So I was at the front of the line. I had a good chat with all the ladies who started to line up behind me. It was great seeing all the older people coming out to see someone they loved when they were young.

This is what greeted me when I go to the front of the stage. At this point I couldn't believe my luck! Front row!!
I bought a shirt and a bandanna (very expensive, but what can you do?)

Here I am front of the stage.

The girl next to me bought flowers for Adam :)

The support band was an all girl band called Georgie Girl. They kept it short and sweet.
Everyone was super excited for Adam to come on.

And suddenly, he was standing in front of me. Larger than life and everything I dreamed of. He lots of energy, jumping around on stage. He looked fabulous.

From the start I was pogo-ing and singing along. I find that I can let myself go at concerts when I'm not with my friends.

There are millions of photos. Scroll to the bottom if you don't want to see them.

Adam ripped his shirt apart during a song!

Georgie Girl did backup vocals. Here she is for the song 'Cleopatra'.

I was so close to him!

My perfect standing position gave me the chance to grope Adam's leg when he stood playing guitar. Hopefully he didn't mind!

His set list was great and he played heaps of his old punk tracks.

[EDIT] The list of songs is Plastic Surgery, Dog Eat Dog, Beat My Guest, Kick, Cartrouble, Ants Invasion, Deutscher Girls, Stand and Deliver, Puss n' Boots, Catholic Day, Kings of the Wild Frontier, Wonderful, Whip In My Valise, Vince Taylor, Desperate But Not Serious, Cleopatra, Never Trust A Man, Zerox, Antmusic, Goody Two Shoes, Vive Le Rock, Christian D'or, Lady, Fat Fun, Red Scab, Get It On/20th Century Boy, Prince Charming, Physical (You're So)
SO MANY!
Some of the songs I loved: Kick, Lady (the song about the naked chick), Fat Fun (I was so HAPPY he played this song!), Whip In My Valise (OMG!), Deutscher Girls, Ants Invasion, Beat My Guest.

He also played two T-Rex songs :)

I sung to every song and jumped around.
He did two encores!

Then everything stopped for the next part. Adam Ant locked eyes with me, lent forward and handed me his bandanna from around his waist.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I then died

What I actually did was scream loudly and become a fan girl. I am sure he singled me out because I was the only one jumping around for his whole concert (plus green Mohawk might of helped)

The concert ended and everyone went crazy! It was seriously the best gig I've been to in my whole life. I'm so glad to see Adam go back to his punk roots. I love all the songs from that period.

A girl stopped me, she said she reads my blog! This is my first experiance of someone stopping me because they read my blog. So exciting

The second big surprise was yet to come!
A man the in audience handed me a VIP card!!! I had only bought a regular ticket because I'm poor and VIP cost around $250. This man was there with his wife and 15 year old daughter, they had a spare ticket because they won a few in the newspaper.
He told me he was going to give the ticket to whoever knew all the words. It also helped that I knew who Jordan was (he asked me if I dressed like this normally and if I liked Jordan, I said I liked Siouxie Sioux better)

The VIP ticket gave me the chance to meet Adam Ant! We gathered in the upstairs bar and got called down groups at a time to meet Adam. We were aloud to have two things signed.
I also got a free signed poster.

Of course I didn't know what to say to him. I went for a handshake but he gave me a hug instead! I told him that I really enjoyed his music and was very pleased to meet him. He asked me my name, and signed all of my things (he signed four things instead of two)
In this picture he's looking at my work swipe card. He was very soft spoken.

I sneaked my arm around his waist for this photo! To give you an idea of his height, I'm 175cm and wearing flat shoes. I'd say that Adam is average height.

But OMG I got to meet him! I was the luckiest girl in the whole world.

Here is my loot. His bandanna (I'm going to frame this, Adam Ant sweat). My work swipe card, my VIP ticket, ticket stub, poster. I can't believe he took the time to write my name on everything! What a great man.

This is what he wrote on my work card. If Adam says I'm aloud a tea break, then I can't deny him!

BEST NIGHT EVER!
If you have a chance to see Adam Ant, go for it. It is so worth it, he has so much energy and still has a great singing voice.

I was so lucky.
