Sharon Needles

A little while ago I saw Sharon Needles at the Perth gay club Connections. Photos taken by my friend Haze.
I didn't know what to expect, because I've never seen a drag show before. Sharon Needles was the winner of the fourth season of RuPaul's Drag Race (which I love!).

It was really horrible and hot where I was standing.

I didn't actually stay for all of Sharon's show. After her first song I felt really ill and I felt like I needed to sit down. There was no seating at the club (what the hell?!) so I actually bailed early and caught a taxi home.

Donnelly River

Working at Fringe World was a great experience. The company that runs it, Artrage, are very generous.
As a wind-down Artrage organised an all expenses paid weekend away to Donnelly River.
Donnelly is south of Perth, around three hours away. It's very close to Bridgetown, where I stayed on a farm with Merissa previously.
Around 35 people went, but only a few people that I have actually met before. Only two people who I worked with went.

The accomodation is around 30 houses. The area used to be used for logging.

There are no pets allowed, but that's understandable. All of the wildlife are so close. I also bought emu/kangaroo food at the general store so I could hand feed them.

Here is my Fringe co-worker Sophie looking at a lazy kangaroo from out kitchen window.

Nom nom nom. I fed Emus and Kangaroos. I saw a rabbit and a possum.
The animals are wild, but they get used to the tourists after a while. The emus were very gentle with taking food. Wild kangaroos can be dangerous, but these guys were very used to people. They wanted the food more than us patting them! :)

This is the swimming dam. Yes, I totally went for a swim! Although the bottom was slimy and I was scared of leeches.

The weekend was over too soon. I was a bit scared about socialising with all of the people I haven't met. It was a bit hard at night when everyone was drinking and hanging around. I felt like I didn't belong anywhere and I made a quiet escape. I know I shouldn't leave social gatherings early.

Wishing To Hide

There were many benefits to working at Fringe World. They invited all of the workers for a free dinner at Devilles Pad. Who can pass up a free dinner?
Thursday night at Devilles is karaoke night, and of course I sang Bowie. I did Let's Dance this time.
Initially I was a bit anxious to go. I don't enjoy being around people sometimes, even if I'm with friends. Lately I've been wanting to stay at home and hide away.

What's with this pose I'm pulling? I also have a new bag from Kreepsville.

Things I've Spent My Pay On

The best part of getting paid is spending it on stuff! With the extra income from my second job, I got to buy a few things I've had my eye on. I've been saving towards my holiday too, don't worry!!
The next big purchase that I'll get is a tablet. I won't be getting an apple product, because I'm not a fan. I'll most likely get a Samsung. I think this will come in useful for when I'm in Europe. For reading, using wifi, etc.

Cute bathroom set from Sourpuss

Frankenstein cardigan.  It was surprised that it fit me!
Spiderweb creepers!

Finished Fringe

Fringe World has finally finished! It was very tiring. I worked at the box office, and it made me realise how much I HATE customers/the general public. There are so many rude people out there. What made me laugh was that people blamed us when they were late, or the show was sold out. They didn't think about planning ahead!

The Perth Culture Centre looked beautiful, and I sadly did not get many photos. Here are a few pictures of the mermaids.

I saw a few good shows, and met some nice people. The is a staff party on Thursday at Devilles. There is also a free staff vacation down south, which I'm going to. I'll try to take lots of photos!

There has been a lack of posts and photos from me. My time has been spent working all of the time. I have a week off before returning to nights at the Rooftop Movies.

The Professor's Monthly Homework Assignment: Date Night

 Natalie's date night in photos:

Step 1: Take off makeup

Step 2: Put on an ugly/comfy outfit
(I'm holding/eating dried mango. I also look super classy)

Step 3: Get a movie and popcorn!

Step 4: Imagine you are Sarah. Instead of saying "You have no power over me" scream: "TAKE ME NOW JARETH!!"

Step 5: Go to bed and dream about Bowie.

END OF DATE

High Tea

I've been very busy with work. Each day I wake up at 6am, get to the library around 8am. I work till 4.30 then go into Perth and work at the Fringe World boxoffice until midnight. Go home, sleep, repeat.

I luckily had Sunday off and I took the chance to see a wedding dress exhibition at the West Australian Museum. There was an awesome offer of having high tea if you payed a higher price (the high tea included entry to the exhibition). I never pass up a high tea. I wish my friend Merissa was still in Perth, because we would have had so much fun together. I bet she's having a wonderful time in the UK, but I really miss her.
Lisa, who runs descent, came with me. She's a really nice girl and I enjoy her company.

The food was so yummy. There were finger sandwiches with the crust cut off, quiches, cakes, scones with lots of real cream and jam. YUM! and unlimited pots of tea! I had about five cups of tea :)

After stuffing ourselves on scones and tea, we headed into the exhibition. Sadly no photography was allowed. They did have a few dresses out front of the exhibition that I took a photo of.
The exhibition is from the Victoria and Albert museum in London. It features wedding dresses through the ages, from regency times to current. I love fashion history! There were some brilliant dresses, I loved looking at all of the details. It made me wish that I will get married one day. I'm going to have an uber goth wedding with coffins and bats!
It was so interesting to imagine all of the women who wore these dresses. Imagine how scared they must have been!! It must have been so scary not knowing what to expect in the bedroom after the wedding was over. Poor girls.

Some dresses from the museum collection.

Dinosaur in a veil!

It was a warm day, so I wore this cute dress. I'm OVER hiding my arms away. I'm going to wear sleeveless shirts without feeling ashamed!
Dress: Crossroads (I got it on sale for $10)
Belt: City Chic
Tights: We Love Colors
Winklepickers: Underground Shoes

Working at the box office is going well. Basically I'm ordering tickets for customers. I forgot about how much I dislike customers! Some people are VERY rude.
I've watched a few Fringe shows, I get in for free with my staff pass. My favourite so far has been Briefs. I only get around one day off a week, so I haven't been home much other than to sleep.
